ARTS & CULTURE

Salt Lake City’s arts scene isn’t just culturally enriching, it’s a powerful economic driver for our capital city. Chris is proud to be one of the strongest advocates for arts and culture on the Council, supporting programs and grants through the Salt Lake Arts Council and the City’s Arts, Culture, and Entertainment Fund. By prioritizing arts in the City’s annual budget, growing our partnerships with nonprofits, and promoting the remarkable talent we have right here at home, Chris will ensure that Salt Lake City remains a cultural hub for residents and visitors from around the state and region.

  • Chris led the effort to expand the “Percent for Art” requirement to all Redevelopment Agency (RDA) projects.

  • Through the City’s “Arts for All” program, Chris helped provide free tickets to Broadway quality shows to economically disadvantaged school children.

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, Chris ensured micro loans were provided to struggling artists and performers.

  • Chris continues to pursue public and private collaborations to bring iconic artworks and experiences to our City.

  • Outside his role as a City Councilmember, Chris and his family are annual supporters of Salt Lake City’s visual art, dance, music, and film communities.
